CA Court of Appeal Calls Into Question Evidentiary Value of Electronic Signatures

By Brett D. Watson, Cozen O'Connor

On January 19, 2023, the California Court of Appeal, First District, Division 4, issued a troubling decision regarding the evidentiary value of electronic signatures in Iyere v. Wise Auto Group.

CCBA and TEN Network take on Escondido Falls Malibu

By Conor Tucker, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati

CCBA was delighted to co-host a hike with The Esquire Network last month.  Attorneys gathered to trek up to Escondido Falls in Malibu.  After the recent rains, the falls roared at full strength and the normally-dry creek bed flowed with enough water that multiple fordings were required.  The group made it to the falls and back—a calm 3.7 mile hike with slight elevation gain.  The CCBA hopes to host further hikes in the future.  If you are interested in attending, please contact Conor Tucker (ctucker@wsgr.com) for more information.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Thursday April 6, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Your Home is Spying on You - A Look at Internet of Things Forensics

More and more homes contain smart devices: Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Nest Thermostat, Smart TVs, Roombas, and more. These devices store all kinds of activities and send that data to the cloud. This CLE explores the types of data available, looks at some cases where that data was used, and discusses the law regarding the collection of this type of data.

A CLE Presented by Brian Chase, Managing Director of Digital Forensics, Archer Hall.
