COVID-19 Update: Quarantined Hotels
and Visa Policy Changes in Vietnam
March  9, 2020

Dear Travel Partners,

With the emergence of new cases of COVID-19 in Vietnam and across the globe, the travel and hospitality industry has been significantly affected. The Vietnamese government has been proactive in implementing policies and issuing advisories to prevent further spread of coronavirus. To keep you fully informed and aware of the situation on ground, we have collated all relevant information as of March 9, 2020.

New COVID-19 Cases

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health reported new cases of COVID-19 in Hanoi, tracing back to an infected person who flew from London to Hanoi on 02 March 2020. This brings the number of confirmed infections in the country to 30. Sixteen (16) of the patients have already recovered and been discharged.

Hotels Under Quarantine

There are a number of hotels now under quarantine. Some wholly quarantined with all guests stuck inside for the next 14 days.

Below is the list of hotels either fully under quarantine or with guests inside under quarantine as at 16:00 Monday, 9 March (local time VN):
Hanoi Sofitel Metropole Old-wing quarantined
Guests who checked in before 5 March are under quarantine
Hanoi La Siesta Trendy Fully quarantined until 21 March
Sapa Topas Ecolodge Fully quarantined until 21 March
Cat Ba Cat Ba Island Resort Fully quarantined until 21 March
Ninh Binh Ninh Binh Hidden Charm Quarantined an area with guests being tested
Hue Moonlight Fully quarantined
Mai Chau Mai Chau Ecolodge Quarantined an area with guests being tested
We do have a number of guests who are affected by these quarantines. Some will be required to stay in the hotels for the next two weeks. These are official government directives and there is little or nothing we can do to influence the decisions.

We are working to find out what support we can provide to affected guests and we will do our best to help.
