Aangen Creates Empowerment and Breaks the Cycle of Poverty

WHY CHOOSE AANGEN

Aangen is a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to providing sustainable, solution-based responses to social injustices locally
and globally. We focus on breaking the cycle of poverty through innovative programs that address hunger and homelessness, create employment opportunities for marginalized people, help families in crisis and much more. We raise funds for our community service programs by selling nutritious meals, providing cleaning services, and partnering with agencies to create employment.

Our vision to foster personal empowerment and nurture communities is embodied by our driving philosophy: One Love. One World.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Toronto/Tkaronto‌ ‌is‌ ‌part‌ ‌of‌ ‌Treaty‌ ‌13‌ ‌between‌ ‌the‌ ‌Crown‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌Mississaugas‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌Credit‌ ‌First‌ ‌Nation.‌ ‌This‌ ‌land‌ ‌is‌ ‌the‌ ‌traditional‌ ‌territory‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌Anishinabek‌ ‌Nation,‌ ‌the‌ ‌Haudenosaunee‌ Confederacy,‌ ‌the‌ ‌Huron-Wendat,‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌Métis.‌ ‌This‌ ‌territory‌ ‌is‌ ‌subject‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌Dish‌ ‌With‌ ‌One‌ Spoon‌ ‌Wampum‌ ‌Belt‌ ‌Covenant,‌ ‌an‌ ‌agreement‌ ‌to‌ ‌peaceably‌ ‌share‌ ‌and‌ ‌care‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌Great‌ ‌Lakes‌ region.‌ Today, this land continues to be home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to live, work, and play on this land.

Aangen's recognition of the contributions and historic importance of Indigenous peoples to this land is directly connected to our commitment to make the promise and the challenge of Truth and Reconciliation real in our work and communities, and in particular to bring justice to the survivors of residential schools and their families, as well as to all missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit individuals.
